Microsoft Patches

On the second Tuesday of every month, Microsoft issues Security Bulletins, which are code fixes or patches for vulnerabilities found in their
operating systems and applications.
According to Microsoft, they issue a bulletin for any product vulnerability that could result in multiple customers' systems being impacted, no matter
how unlikely or limited the impact. Toward that end, a severity rating is given each bulletin. The following is an explanation of Microsoft’s rating
system.
The Severity Rating System
The severity rating system provides a single rating for each vulnerability. The definitions of the ratings are:
Critical
A vulnerability whose exploitation could allow the propagation of an Internet worm without user action.
Important
A vulnerability whose exploitation could result in compromise of the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of users data, or of the integrity or
availability of processing resources.
Moderate
Exploitability is mitigated to a significant degree by factors such as default configuration, auditing, or difficulty of exploitation.
Low
A vulnerability whose exploitation is extremely difficult, or whose impact is minimal.
As soon as a Microsoft Security Bulletin is issued, UpdateEXPERT engineers begin testing it for patch supercedences and interdependencies.
Once issues are thoroughly resolved, the patch is added to St. Bernard Software’s exclusive patch database. Most patches are turned around in 24
hours allowing you to patch expediently and with confidence.
