| Feature |
Benefit |
| Wake on LAN |
You can now patch during off hours and include your entire network, even those machines that are turned off or remote. |
| Central Management of Distributed Patch Servers |
Users can now perform operations across dispersed patch servers simultaneously, greatly simplifying routine tasks such as querying,
deploying and reporting for organizations with widespread or remote locations. |
| Multi-user Rights and Roles |
User roles such as administrator, auditor or policy manager are defined and you can assign rights to each role. Rights include query,
manage machines, deploy patches, report, etc. This feature secures your organization’s network by allowing several administrators to manage
networks and systems while maintaining security and permissions |
| Notification of Specific Events |
This feature is a convenient and accurate way for IT administrators to verify instantly when a scheduled event has occurred successfully.
You choose from a list of events, such as installation, query, validation and reporting, and then you are notified via email on any or all of them.
Upon completion of an event (or its failure), you will receive immediate verification. |
| Report Enhancements and Custom Reports |
UpdateEXPERT Premium allows you to generate consolidated reports that include data from all your master agents through the centralized
management console, at no extra charge. In addition, improved reporting includes more in-depth views and data as well as a wide range of
built-in templates. Or, you can easily customize reports to include only the fields you need. |
| Filtered Views of Managed Machines |
View and manage only those machines that meet the criteria you define. Parameters for filtering include last query, IP range, agent type,
profile, and other attributes. This feature allows you to more easily manage larger, more complex topologies as well as control specific activities
within the groups you create. |
| Multiple Policies |
With this feature, you can save and name required updates as policies, making it easy to manage varied groups of machines requiring
different patch policies. As with all UpdateEXPERT Premium functions, multiple policies are easily handled from a single management console. |
| Dependency Viewer |
This feature allows you to view all patch dependencies and supercedences for each patch you wish to deploy using a simple right mouse
click. Rather than having to search for this data, the information you need is at your fingertips. Plus, with UpdateEXPERT Premium, you can
still deploy the patches to secure your networks and systems. |
| Security Settings Management |
UpdateEXPERT Premium helps you further harden systems by going beyond patching to security settings management. Because
most Windows operating systems are not configured to sufficient security levels, you may have holes in your network that patching alone
can’t fix. With UpdateEXPERT Premium, you don’t have to wade through reams of settings documentation. We’ve summarized industry
expert data from NSA, NIST, Microsoft and others, into brief simple security points within templates that are easy to review. You can fully
apply one organization’s recommendations or compare and assign security points from several different organizations for customized security
settings. This added layer of security combined with diligent patching, gives you optimum network security in one easy-to-use, affordable
solution. See security settings management. |
| UNIX/Linux/Solaris OS |
UpdateEXPERT includes all our best patch management features for the following Linux and Solaris operating systems: Red Hat
Linux versions 7.3, 8 and 9; Solaris versions 8 and 9 |
| Scheduled Installs |
Schedule patch deployments and installations by machine groups to occur during |
| Smart Reboot Elimination |
This feature allows administrators to set one, a group, multiple groups or all target machines to reboot at a later scheduled time in
order to minimize productivity loss for employees. |
| Patch Rollback Support |
This feature allows you to roll patches back to the previous configuration. In addition, single or multiple patches can be uninstalled
from target systems using an uninstall Wizard. Uninstall can be scheduled to take place immediately or at a scheduled time in the future. |
| Reporting |
UpdateEXPERT Premium allows you to generate consolidated reports that include data from all your master agents through the
centralized management console, at no extra charge. Inaddition, improved reporting includes more in-depth views and data as well as a wide
range of built-in templates. Or, you can easily customize reports to include only the fields you need. |
| Custom Messages |
These are messages the administrator can send to the user of a target machine. These messages can warn a user that his machine
will reboot in a set amount of time, that he needs to log off for maintenance reasons, etc. Custom messages reduce the possibility of lost
information due to necessary maintenance. |
| Per Machine Credentials |
Once discovered via scan by IP range, machines can be added to existing or newly created domains and groups for easy management.
This speeds the tasks for administrators and makes handling large or small numbers of machines more convenient. |
| Scan/Manage by IP Range |
This gives you the ability to locate all manageable computers within an IP range or subnet mask. The IP range scanning uses multiple
methods to identify all devices within an IP range. Once discovered, you can add machines to existing or newly created domains and groups for
management. |
| Custom Patches |
The ability to update programs with custom patches allows organizations with proprietary or legacy applications to stay current with patches.
Financial and educational industries are some examples of those that have legacy or proprietary programs that they need to keep updated. |
| Grouping/Profiles |
This feature greatly reduces the time involved in managing machines. IT administrators can group systems that may need similar
maintenance by criteria such as geographic location or corporate department (i.e. engineering, finance). Administrators can also profile
machines by characteristics such as OS or machine type (workstation, server, etc) then perform updates by profile type. |
| Bandwidth Control |
With bandwidth throttling control, remote systems can be updated without bogging down the network because the data for patches
can be sent in several smaller packets over an internet connection. This keeps networks running at optimum levels while still ensuring secure
remote systems. |
| Easy to Use |
Centrally manage operations across dispersed patchservers simultaneously from one console, greatly simplifying routine tasks such as
querying, deploying and reporting fororganizations with disparate systems. |
